There is plenty to see and do in the region, including The Platypus House, Seahorse World, Hillwood Berry Farm, Bridestowe Estate Lavender Farm, Beaconsfield Mine and Heritage Centre, the Penguin Parade at Low Head and the Tamar Wetlands Reserve.
Before or after your loop, you can also visit Launceston Distillery or Adam’s Distillery, which are located nearby Launceston.
Hillwood whisky is a hidden gem from the Tamar Valley Distillery, located in Hillwood Tasmania on the banks of the Tamar River.
One of a few select distilleries that create everything from scratch each step of the way, where Paul Herron, Master Distiller and his three sons mill onsite, create the mash, ferment, distill, barrel age and bottle all their limited batches of whiskies on the Hillwood property.
Visits are by appointment only through the official website.
The Batman Bridge is a modern road bridge that carries the Batman Highway across the Tamar River, between Whirlpool Reach, Hillwood at its eastern end and Sidmouth / Deviot midpoint at its western end, in north Tasmania,
The bridge enables you to cross over the Tamar River and is a good place to stop and have a break from driving. You can drive down under the bridge and look up for a great photo opportunity.

A unique attraction in the Tamar Valley, Brady's Lookout was once the hideout for bushranger Mathew Brady.
It is definitely worth a stop for 180° views of Tamar River and Valley from two different viewing platforms.
The vistas extend over 120 kilometres to Ben Lomond massif in the south and almost to the Bass Strait to the north.
The viewing platforms are set right on the cliff edge, with the escarpment falling away to the river 140 metres below.

The distillery tasting room offers a unique view over our 3,000 litre copper still and distilling process, coupled with a deck and stunning views over the majestic Tamar River.
