Alchymia Distillery

Where great Spirit is made by hand, not on a spreadsheet.

Alchymia Distillery's home, on the rugged NW of Tasmania at Table Cape boasts great water, great views, amazing people and enough space to grow barley for our single malt whisky.

Our property has a beautiful 150-year-old shed that we have converted into our distillery. This is where we now create handcrafted premium spirits using the finest ingredients Tasmania has to offer.

The whole process of Whisky making is done on-site and by hand. We grist, mash-in, ferment, distil, mature, bottle, and sell all on-site at Alchymia Distillery, “where great Spirit is made by hand, not on a spreadsheet.”

We opened our Tasting room and Distillery in January 2022, then sold out of our first two Whiskey releases in May 2023. Our first Tasmanian Whisky is being released in April 2024 with a range of Casks- Shiraz, Madeira, Bourbon, Oloroso, Ruby Port, Tawny Port, Old Tawny Port, Pinot, Rum and a Chardonnay, in a range of sizes from 30ltr to 100ltrs. There are some amazing Truly Tasmanian Whiskies to come!!

We also produce amazing Gins and Vodkas (Vodka is made as a by-product of our Whisky) alongside a Coffee Liqueur & Limoncello.

The tasting room is open to the public Fri-Sun 12-4 pm and we are an over 18's only venue. We run distillery experiences from making your own Whisky or Gin right down to a Distillery Tour & Tasting. We always said that “we are building an experience, not a legacy,” and that is exactly what we are doing.

Don’t bother visiting if you’re on a family holiday, you won’t be allowed in or out of the venue.
Have been to a number of AMAZING artisinal distilleries in the area who were MORE than welcoming for a small family, but this one was so abrupt and unwelcoming we were quite put off.
We walked in to be told it was an over 18’s venue only, and even though my husband was there to buy he couldnt stay because I was there with a child. If the lady serving could have shut the door on us she probably would have.
Bit crazy given the destination and economic climate that you’d turn away paying customers so much so that we werent even offered to wait outside but I guess all businesses are not the same. Gross.

I will preface this with the fact that I am a non drinker, and spirits have never been my thing.

Less offensive than any other gin and whisky I have tried.
Might not sound like high praise, but it is when you're not a drinker. Went along because it was part of a tour. If I did drink, I'd drink theirs. The love they put into it is very impressive, and the owners have great stories to tell, very inspiring. I haven't drunk a lot of spirits in my life, but I was impressed by the variety of flavours and smells. High-quality stuff!

Try the whiskey. :)

Don't drive along the highway after Wynyard without stopping at Alchymia distillery.
Looking forward to my next trip to northwest Tas to replenish my supply and get my $5 bottle deposit back.

Beautiful views, wonderful stories and good booze what more could you ask for. Thank you ☺️
